The Wolf of Wall Street

Movies, movies, movies! The Wolf of Wallstreet is one of many movies taking spotlight in nominations in the award-shows. (We're still wondering why Leo hasn't landed the Oscar.) It's rated 18+, so watch it with someone who's that age or make sure you're 18 yourself!

The Wolf of Wall Street, based on the biography of the same name, is a black comedy which is fast, funny, over the top and filthy in a good way. This film has classic Scorsese (He's the director) written all over. Great camera work and great performances, especially from Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill. The Wolf of Wall Street is savage, and over the top, but that what makes this makes this movie a winner. A ridiculously over the top film is the only way to portray such a over the top life style. The film follows Jordan Belfort, a real life person who was the head of the stockbroker firm Stratton Oakmont. We follow his rise power, his fraudulent activities and the insane life style he develops revolving around massive amounts of drugs and prostitutes. Many people might say that this film in many ways parallels Scorsese’s 1990 classic “Goodfellas”—Both in its biographical style, and its portrayal of white collar crime. What's important about this film is its portrayal of Belfort's actions and his unquenchable thirst for money and the mentality that you can never have too much wealth, drugs, women, or power. Although this film is very long, it enthrals you for the whole time with its fast and captivating scenes. This film is definitely worth a watch.

This movie is one of the few from that star-line up that we will be reviewing. Expect to hear about 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle and Gravity!
